Young Thomisidae => Xysticus sp.
« am: 2021-09-11 10:45:36 »
Gorgoglione, Province of Matera, Basilicata, Southern Italy.

Date of discovery: 7 September, 11 am, sunny.
Habitat: 600 m - on a low and dry umbrellifera, at the edge of a road in the countryside.
Dimensions: 3 mm.

Young Xysticus, right?
It does not have the pear-shaped prosoma of Ozyptila, but has a lower number of thorns on the tibia I than the norm for the genus I hypothesize.
Perhaps it is due to the spider's young age, meaning that the other spines have yet to develop?
Thanks.
Raf
