01-05-2013 Caprera Island

Hello to all,
with this excursion closes the cycle of places to visit me during the period in question.

The Island of Caprera is one of the islands that are part of the archipelago of La Maddalena, off the coast of Gallura. It has a jagged coastal trend and moved. The eastern part of the coast is particularly difficult to achieve because the screen by a small chain of pink granite.

The coastal area of the eastern slope is very steep, covered in part by junipers, mastic and other specimens typical of the Mediterranean. Towards the west the slope gives way to rolling plains, also of the Mediterranean, where there is also a large pine forest. The wild and pristine island has led, in 1982, the declaration of Natural Reserve, followed by its inclusion in the National Park of La Maddalena.

The particular natural and environmental value has meant that most of the eastern coastline, the so-called zone A, is under a regime of full protection which prohibits the practice of fishing in front of Cala Coticcio. This prohibition also applies to the marine area east of Punta Rossa and Sheep Island. In winter the area is still explored by car, but in the summer it is forbidden to transit except with an authorization granted by the City and the Park.

The Island of Caprera, in addition to its natural beauty, is known because it preserves the memory of the twenty six year old Giuseppe Garibaldi decided to spend: to visit the Compendium Garibaldi with the tomb and the White House.

As the first image I post pictures with almost all participants in the excursion (missing Arnold Sciberras and Jonas Wolff who is the author of the photo)

In this sequence, taken after overthrowing a stone, you can see the spider run away and then come back to protect the eggs. He repeated the escape and return several times.

Theridiidae, Steatoda paykulliana

Hallo Salvatore,

it is Ero aphana, not tuberculata (in my opinion).

Now the Pholcidae should be P. opilinioides.

Kochura aulicum

Anelosimus vitatus

Sardinien steckt mit in den Italiennachweisen. Das muss erst noch auseinandergenommen werden. Aber im Moment habe ich keine Zeit.

Moin Martin and Katja,
sure is that in the picture of Anelosimus vitatus inserted by Martin, the similarity compared to my photos, is remarkable.
I still wanted to show you these two other post where we talk about Kochiura aulica.

Why nobody post genitals? If two species alike like this, it seems to be necessary to check them genital. The genitals are very different.
