Gorgoglione, Province of Matera, Basilicata, Southern Italy.

Date of discovery: 7 September, 11 am, sunny.
Habitat: 600 m - on a dry umbrellifera in the sun, on the edge of a road in the countryside.
Dimensions: 6 mm.

Greetings to the forum.
This male Thomisidae, I hope adult, closely resembles the immature female of this thread,

https://forum.arages.de/index.php?topic=29001.0

despite having been found in a different and distant place.
It has the first pair of very long legs.
Do the photos of the palps help to get to the genus (Psammitis or Xysticus or other) and maybe to the species?
Thanks.
Raf

P.S. the spider is home with me, but I don't know for how long. I don't like keep spiders segregate.

Wow, fantastic.  :D :D :D
Thanks Simeon.  ;)

This species is reported on "The Catalog of the Italian Spiders 2019" by Pantini & Isaia, as well as on the wiki and on UniBe, only for Sardinia in Italy!!!
Probably the immature female of the mentioned thread also belongs to the same species then.

Greetings.

Send it please to Simeon, if he wants it, or Paolo Pantini. I can also take it, but consider me the last possibility.

It would be very important to publish this record, because the species is, as far as we know, a Mediterranean endemic and not known from the Caucaus region or elsewhere (i.e. it has a quite limited distribution compared to other species of the Palearctic and a high conservation value). It would be no problem for me to contribute some text. Ideally, a drawing of the genitalia or a good image is included, but it is not elementary in this case.

@Raffaele: I did a bit earlier today. To me,both bulbus apophyses are well visible although a potential very closely related sibling (like in the cristatus/audax case) might not be excludable without more material, let alone these photos. I assumed the conservative position here.

@Both: Raffaele has my address but I am not sure whether I will be able to work on this case in the recent future and I find it more appropriate for it to stay in Italy. I am next in line only after all Italian arachnologists :D
