Moin Andre,
das war aber diesmal einfach (Cosmetidae):

1) Eucynorta sp. (vielleicht E.  cf. puncticulata)
2) Cynorta cf. marginalis.

Ich schicke die Bilder noch an Daniel wenn Du willst?

Dan Proud antwortete:

"The photos you sent are fantastic!  They have a very deep, rich color!

I agree with your IDs.  One species is Cynorta marginalis, the other is an unidentified species of Eucynorta.  The species in your
photograph has the solid transverse line posterior to area IV on the dorsal scute whereas E. puncticulata does not (so I would say
it is not E. puncticulata).  But your specimen (Eucynorta sp) also shows some variation compared to "Eucynorta sp. 4" of Proud
et al. (2012), in that the specimen in your photograph has a solid median line, but Eucynorta sp. 4 has a broken median line.  This
could be slight variation in dorsal color pattern between populations, as we have also observed similar variations within some other
species.  Do you know where these specimens were photographed?

The family Cosmetidae is in need of a large revision.  We are currently working on the Central American genera and many genera
will probably be revised, including Eucynorta.  We are currently examining the genitalic characters of these genera and trying to
better understand the characters that define natural groups within Cosmetidae.

Another useful paper for determining species of Cosmetidae in Central America is attached (Townsend et al. 2010).  However, it
obviously does not cover the cosmetid species that are undescribed from Central America.  We have collected many undescribed
species and intend to formally describe them once we are able to revise some of the genera.

Thanks for emailing me - I always love seeing other people's photos!  I will definitely look into the forum as soon as I get some
free time.  If you ever need IDs for other species from Central America, please feel free to contact me.

Best regards,
Dan

Also Andre, wo genau wurden die Knechte gesehen? Die eMail-Adresse von Dan ist: dnp0646@louisiana.edu (Universität Louisiana)
