Hallo Walter,

Hello Walter and Siegfried,
I photographed it too, specimens of Ctenizia sp., the ground is equal to that of your photo, I managed to photograph it near the den, in fact after the first shot has retired to the den. Photographed in Ittiri on 07/05/2012.

Seems like Yours are juveniles, aren't they? Have You ever found a male?

@Siegfried: Ok, than we must wait patiently! I was surprised how small the spermathecae are!

Hi Salvatore!
indeed the specimens on your photos are juveniles. And - be carefull: in case they have scopulae at the first legs it is NOT Cteniza but Cyrtauchenius! I found them both close to Usini..

Hi guys,
Siegfried can you confirm for sure that Cyrtauchenius occurs in Sardinia?
It's very very interesting 'cause I guessed that Sardinian Mygalomorphae were just Nemesia and Cteniza.

Hi,
as I wrote before (within some threads on our Sardinian excursion) there IS Cyrtauchenius on Sardinia! But this is definetely NOT the first record: Vera Opatova found them one or two years ago and is just preparing a paper on Cteniza and probably Cyrtauchenius as well..
cheers: Siegfried

Hallo,
kann man diesen thread nicht besser zur Sardinien-Exkursion verschieben?

Thank you for your reply.
I think that Italian arachnofauna checklist needs to be updated, in particular about Sardinia but also the rest of Mediterranean island.
I have just found Cteniza and Nemesia in Sardinia, they are very common.

C. moggridgei, C. sauvagesi, C. brevidens should be in Sardinia, but no idea how to determine the specimens.

Waiting for new works.....!
