Xysticus sp. (Georgia) => Xysticus cf. loeffleri
« am: 2017-01-07 19:43:37 »
Hello forum,

Today I've collected a female Xysticus sp. and tried to ID it by epigyne. Well, I've failed.
I don't have a microscope, so the picture was taken with 100 mm macro lens.
The spiders are quite robust, light-colored with 4 transversal lines (or oblonged spots) and 2 spots on the dorsum, quit numerous and found only under the stones in arid and semiarid habitat.
My opinion is X. turanicus, but not sure at all.
Will be thankful for any help. Here you may view information, that may be useful http://caucasus-spiders.info/checklist/country-checklists/?country=2

Best regards,
Armen

Xysticus turanicus has been synonymized with Xysticus loeffleri Roewer, 1955.
And seems the epigyne is a good match with this species ! See here.

Hello Pierre,
My mistake, of course I meant X. loeffleri, thank you for the correction my friend! I'm glad, you too share my opinion.

If no one has another guess, I'll rename the topic into Xysticus loeffleri or X. cf loeffleri (?).
