Araneus sturmi/triguttatus male
« am: 2018-05-12 16:00:34 »
Hello, yesterday I found this little male at the edge of a pine-forest, ín the south-west of the Netherlands. It's about 3.5mm tall.

I find it difficult to understand the palp-differences between these species, is it possible to ID this spider from these palp-pictures?
Not the best quality, I know.. :-\

best wishes, Frank

I'm from the Netherlands, but I can read some German :-)

Hi Frank,

I’d say A. sturmi.

Kind regards, Roman

Hello Roman, thanks, indeed that seems to fit the description on https://araneae.unibe.ch/data/1348/Araneus_sturmi

"Male palp with median apophysis, distally with 3 short tips in equal distance to each other".

best wishes,
