Hi Anton,

This could also be S. cingulatus, but it seems to be difficult to distinguish S. zebraneus, S. scenicus and S. cingulatus just on the base of pics.

Kind regards, Roman

Thank you for the answer.

Hi Anton,

Don’t we see here a very long tibial apophysis? To me it seems that this apophysis of S. scenicus and S. zebraneus is shorter.
But maybe one of the Salticidae-specialists will have a look at this spider.

Kind regards, Roman

Hello Anton,

I think this is not easy to decide. Salticus is a difficult genus, and nobody here works on the Russian spider fauna.

just a general information: Do you know that you have a lot of highly skilled Russian arachnologists working in Russia, who are maybe interested in some of your collected material for faunistic and even taxonomic purposes (e.g., Yuri Marusik, Galina Azarkina,  Kirill G. Mikhailov)? If you are interested in determining spiders from your region, I think it may be a good idea to contact some of them and ask if they are interested in your material and if you can send (some adult) spiders (like this one) to their labs/museums for determination.
