Young Gnaphosa?
« am: 2020-02-03 13:36:22 »
Gorgoglione, Province of Matera, Basilicata, southern Italy.

Discovery date: January 8, 2020, around 12:00.
Habitat: 700 m - under a stone, in the open countryside between stones and low grass.
Dimensions: about 3-4 mm.

Greetings to the forum.
I believe it is a young specimen of Gnaphosa; is there a possibility to identify the species?
Thank you.

Really? Isn't it Gnaphosa, Simeon?
In this case, I will have to publish all the photos of the spiders that have been identified to me in Italy as Gnaphosa sp .; these animals are very similar to the spider illustrated above.

In any case, it is not Anagraphis, this genus is not described for Italy.

Update from Italy.
A very reliable friend, with "expert" qualification on the two main Italian spiders forums, to which I had raised my doubts, has just given me his opinion: young specimen of Mesiotelus cf. tenuissimus.
Do you agree too, mitteleuropean friends?

Back from an R&R evening, I'm reading your posts now.

@Jonathan. From what I read on the wiki and on araneae.nmbe, Mesiotelus is a genus common in the Mediterranean and Aegean areas and in some Eastern European countries, but absent in Germany.
I didn't know this genus either, so much so that I had speculated about Gnaphosa.

@Simeon. In Italy there is a law that protects privacy. I am not authorized to name. It is not an excuse and I as a lawyer cannot take risks. I hope you understand my reasons.

With unchanged esteem, I salute you.

@Raffaele thanks. I understand. But aren' t these forums the person is active at public? Or the opinion was given privately?

Good morning at the forum.

@Simeon. Yes, the forums are active in public. I didn't mention them because I don't know if the rules of this forum allow it. If there are no problems, I do it immediately.
As for the opinion received, it is on the forum. Indeed, I add that this morning "our" spider has been confirmed Mesiotelus sp..
So, let me know.
Greetings.
