Linyphia mimonti? <= cf.
« am: 2020-02-24 19:48:11 »
Gorgoglione, Province of Matera, Basilicata, southern Italy.

Discovery date: February 17th, noon (hot and sunny day).
Habitat: 800 m - in the countryside, in the shade on a shrub.
Dimensions: about 5 mm.

Hello.
At first, my doubt was: Linyphia or Neriene?
On the web I have not found anything like this, so in the wiki of this forum I slammed my nose against the page of Linyphia mimonti.
Could this be the species? an already adult female, given its size and considering the maximum length of 6 mm of the species?
I have noticed that the phenological factor is not reported by any specialized site, perhaps the species is active in this period.
Thank you.
Raf

There is a good chance it is one yes. Unfortunately, I have only seen mature females so far while yours is still immature

Wow, what a find if it was confirmed.
Thanks Simeon.
One question: why don't you consider this spider an adult female? Measuring about 5 mm, the wiki estimates adult females from 3.9 to 6 mm.
Instead this is (should be) a young specimen, about 3 mm, which I had found a few minutes earlier on a nearby shrub.
Enjoy

Because neither does it have an epigyne nor is it as sclerotised as the females I have seen

I've changed the determination to "cf.". I don't see any evidence for a safe determination.
