Little brown spider => Agelenidae-Coelotinae
« am: 2021-04-04 22:30:48 »
Gorgoglione, Province of Matera, Basilicata, Southern Italy.

Discovery date: March 25, morning, partly sunny.
Habitat: 700 m - in an oak forest, in its small web under a piece of rotten and damp branch in the grass, near an abandoned building.
Size: about 3mm.

Hello,
I can't understand what this very young spider is.
Agelenidae? Amaurobius?
Thanks for your help.

Agelenidae, has Coelotes-sy (in the broad sense) look to it.

Thanks Simeon ... but what does Coelotes-sy mean?

Do I file it anyway as UI Agelenidae?

Coelotes-sy

An English adjective formed from Coelotes denoting resemblance, lookalikeness :P . Like gloss -> glossy.

As for how to write it down - yes, maybe UI Agelenidae is the safest.

Thanks.

I think Agelenidae-Coelotinae is even better.

Greetings.
